Friction Score

One number.
Your team's full health.

The Friction Score is a single 0–100 metric that reflects how much engineering friction your team is carrying right now. It's computed from real signals — CI failures, stale PRs, deployment issues, flaky tests — and updates in real time.

What's measured

Five signal types, each weighted by impact. Computed over the last 7 days.

Critical — ×3CI FailuresRepeated CI failures on main branches drive the score up fast.High — ×2Stale PRsPRs sitting unreviewed for more than your threshold drag velocity down.High — ×2Deployment FailuresFailed Vercel or CI deployments increase instability signals.Medium — ×1.5Flaky TestsAlternating pass/fail patterns are detected and factored in.Low — ×1Code Debt (TODOs)FIXME/TODO/HACK/XXX patterns found on every push.

Why measure friction as a single score

Engineering teams can feel when something is off — releases drag, reviews pile up, the same test fails on and off — but feelings are hard to act on and harder to bring to a planning meeting. The Friction Score turns that intuition into one objective number, so you can see at a glance whether this week is better or worse than last, and have a concrete metric to rally the team around.

Because the score is severity-weighted and based on a rolling window, it reacts quickly to genuine problems and recovers as they are resolved — it is not a vanity number that only ever climbs. Pair it with Deviera’s automations and the score becomes a feedback loop: friction is detected, routed, and resolved, and the number you are watching drops as a direct result.

Triggers automations

A rising score can automatically trigger new automation rules — escalate, notify, or create issues.
